About this service
This service is for current students, faculty and staff of Lamar University and Lamar
Institute of Technology, and members of the Beaumont community.
Our focus as an educational facility is to teach you how to use the library, its information
resources, and how to evaluate what you find. As such, we primarily provide instruction and guidance.
By telephone, instant messenger and email we can provide:
brief factual information
suggestions for print and/or electronic sources to consult
examples of terms to include in your online searches
answers about library services and policies
brief guidelines for starting your research
brief technical help on electronic library sources

For more in-depth research assistance, we may need to speak with you in person. We will be happy
to provide assistance with your research, but we do not undertake the research for you. The “Ask a
Librarian” service also does not renew, photocopy, retrieve or reserve library materials.
